Nashville HYROX, December 11-13: Every Division Explained
The HYROX Nashville race is December 11 through 13. We’re going as a gym. Here’s everything you need to know about divisions, how to enter, and who this is for.
The Race Format, One More Time
Eight one-kilometer runs. After each run, one functional fitness station. The stations in order: SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges, wall balls. You run through each one in order, then cross the finish line.
The distances and weights vary slightly by division, but the structure is always the same.
The Divisions
HYROX offers divisions built to meet athletes at different levels. Here’s how they break down:
HYROX Open (Solo): This is the entry-level solo division. Standard weights and distances. This is where most first-timers land. If you’re showing up to finish and prove to yourself you can do it, this is your division.
HYROX Women and HYROX Men: These are the standard solo divisions with slightly different station weights between men and women. Open to anyone who wants to compete on their own and push at their own pace.
HYROX Doubles (Mixed, Men’s, Women’s): Doubles lets you partner up with another athlete and share the work. You alternate on the run segments and split the station reps between you. This is a great option if you want the race experience with someone alongside you. Mixed doubles pairs a man and a woman. Men’s doubles is two men. Women’s doubles is two women.
HYROX Doubles PRO: Same as doubles but with heavier weights and shorter rest. For athletes with a strong competitive background who want a harder test.
HYROX PRO (Solo): The hardest solo division. Significantly heavier weights, tougher standards. This is for people who have been competing in HYROX or similar events for a while and want a serious challenge.
HYROX Relay (4 Person): Four athletes divide the race into segments. Each person runs one or two of the kilometer legs and one or two of the stations. This is the most accessible format for people who are newer to endurance-style racing or want to ease into the event as a team.
Which Division Is Right for You?
For most of our members coming to Nashville for the first time, we’re recommending the Open solo division or Doubles. Open is manageable with our Saturday training and your current fitness base. Doubles is a great option if you want a partner pushing alongside you.
If you’ve been with us for a while, have a solid aerobic base, and want a challenge, PRO is worth considering.
The relay is a good fit if the full race distance feels like too much right now. Four people, shared work, same finish line.
Nobody has to go alone. That’s the point of going as a gym.
If you’re not sure which division to choose, come talk to us. That’s what the Saturday sessions and goal reviews are for.
Our Group Fitness Model, Now Complete
With the HYROX affiliation in place, here’s what Wotown Fit now offers across the board:
CrossFit-style functional fitness: Monday through Friday group classes built around varied functional movements. This is where most members spend most of their training week.
Strength programming: Progressive lifting work to build the muscle and capacity that carries over into everything else.
HYROX group training: Saturday sessions focused on race-specific prep. Longer, structured, built around the eight stations and the aerobic demand of the race.
Personal training: Custom programming for members who want individual attention, specific goals, or a plan built around their schedule and history.
This is a complete model. Whatever your goal, we have a lane for it.
We’re Going to Nashville. Come With Us.
December 11 through 13. Nashville. We’re going as a gym, and there’s room for more of you to be on that start line.
If you want to compete, start coming to Saturdays and book a goal review so we can build a realistic plan. If you just want to train better and see what your body can do, that works too.
Either way, this is worth doing.
