What Is HYROX and Why Wotown Fit Is Going All In
If you’ve been coming to Wotown Fit for a while, you know we don’t chase trends. We add things when they make sense for our members and fit our mission. HYROX fits.
Here’s what it is and why it matters for you.
What Is HYROX?
HYROX is a fitness race held in cities around the world, including right here in the United States. The Nashville event runs December 11 through 13, and that’s where we’re headed.
The race format is simple. Eight one-kilometer runs, each followed by one functional fitness station. The stations are the same at every event, in every city, every time:
- SkiErg (1,000 meters)
- Sled Push (50 meters)
- Sled Pull (50 meters)
- Burpee Broad Jumps (80 meters)
- Rowing (1,000 meters)
- Farmers Carry (200 meters)
- Sandbag Lunges (100 meters)
- Wall Balls (75 or 100 reps depending on division)
Total distance covered: roughly 8 kilometers of running plus those eight stations. The beauty of it is that the course never changes. You can train for it specifically. You can measure your progress. You can show up knowing exactly what you’re walking into.
Why We’re Affiliating with HYROX
Our job at Wotown Fit has always been to help real people get fit in ways that carry over into real life. Strength. Endurance. The ability to carry things, move well, and not get worn out doing normal stuff.
HYROX is built on that same idea. It’s not about how you look. It’s not about who can lift the most. It’s about showing up, doing the work across a full course, and finishing. That’s our kind of fitness.
As an official HYROX affiliate, we can now offer HYROX-specific group training as part of our programming. That means you’re getting a well-rounded group fitness model: CrossFit-style functional fitness Monday through Friday, strength building through our BUILD programs, and now HYROX-specific training built into our longer Saturday sessions. Personal training still runs custom programming for anyone who wants that individual attention.
This isn’t a replacement of anything. It’s a rounding out.
Your Fitness Is Already Pointing in This Direction
If you’ve been doing our group classes, you’re already training for this without realizing it. The sled pushes, the rowing, the farmers carries, the wall balls. These aren’t new movements to us. They’re already in our programming.
HYROX just puts them in a race context. It gives them a finish line.
