Name:
Melissa Johnson
Occupation:
I stay at home with kids but also clean houses.
When did you start WOTOWN?
2019
What sports or fitness things did you do before WOTOWN?
I played softball and volleyball in high school, but after high school, I tried different gyms or challenges, but nothing consistent.
How did you find WOTOWN? What was your first workout?
Me and my aunt saw the signs of y’all opening, and we went back and forth on whether to sign up. We went online to look up Tres and Erin , saw they were Christians which really attracted us, finally, I remember praying about it, next thing I know my aunt was like, we’re signing up, and so we did. I can’t remember our first workout, but I do remember not knowing what an AMRAP was, or an EMOM, or any of the CrossFit language 😆 and I felt so accomplished when I could finally read a workout.
What’s your “why” for working out?
I want to stay fit for my kids. I want to always be able to do things with them. I want them to see me do these things so they know they can too, not to be scared in fitness environments, but they can do anything they set their mind too. And a bonus, my girls think I’m cool because I do CrossFit.
What’s your favorite thing about WOTOWN?
Definitely the people!
What are your hobbies?
Gym, running, and crocheting.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I still print my pictures out to scrapbook and do photo collages. Also, I’m training to get my license to sell life insurance!
What PRs or accomplishments (fitness-related) are you most proud of?
My back squat (260#) and all the running I’ve accomplished.
What’s on your fitness bucket list?
To run a race in every state.
What’s on your general bucket list?
To see the redwood trees in California!
What advice do you have for people new to WOTOWN?
Don’t give up! Even when you don’t feel like it, show up.
Anything else you’d like to mention?
I absolutely love this gym! Thank y’all for all you do. This gym has truely impacted my life for the better. I’m so grateful for the people! I’ve met people I would have not met otherwise, and they have impacted my life as well. Thank y’all.
