When did you start WOTOWN?

July 2021 (K)

November 2022 (J)

What sports or fitness things did you do before WOTOWN?
I varied between some HIIT classes, boxing classes, and running. Being a member of the Alabama Colorguard kept me active as well with practices and team workouts. (K)

Ride mountain bikes and dirt bikes. (J)

How did you find WOTOWN? What was your first workout?
I was new to the area, but knew a member (Haley Graveman) who worked out at WOTOWN and asked her if she would recommend it and of course she told me she loved it so I figured it would be a great way to stay active but also meet people since I was brand new to the community. I can’t remember the exact details of the first workout, but I do remember I was super nervous and there were box jumps in the workout. Something that stands out more than anything else is how helpful and encouraging Jen Fox was, I can still remember her cheering me on! (K)

My wife drug me there and I’m not sure but I bet it sucked. (J)

What’s your “why” for working out?
I workout for myself and my family. It is super important that I am the best version of myself for myself, my family and my friends. Working out at Wotown helps my physical health but the effects of that trickles down to my mental and even spiritual health.

To be better at double-unders than my wife. (J)

What’s your favorite thing about WOTOWN?
Community – to think roughly two and a half years ago I didn’t know anyone in this area, to looking now at all the amazing people I have met thanks to WOTOWN, it truly is my favorite thing about this gym! I wouldn’t trade these friendships for the world and I am so thankful I’ve made friendships that span beyond the gym. These people are so special to me and are the reason I show up to the gym on days I don’t want to!

When Chandler coaches. (J)

What are your hobbies?
CrossFit, traveling with Jacob, and hanging out with my pup Gus. (K)

Mountain biking, hunting, and playing with my dog. (J)

What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I was on the Alabama Colorguard and attended 4 national championships while at school in Tuscaloosa — Roll Tide!

I was almost a teacher instead of an engineer. (J)

What PRs or accomplishments (fitness-related) are you most proud of?
Recently got my first kipping pull up — something I never thought I would be able to do! (K)

Coming consistently and getting handstand pushups again. (J)

What’s on your fitness bucket list?

Half-Marathon (K)

Clean 300 (J)

What’s on your general bucket list?
Visit as many National Parks as possible! (K)

Bike/Ski in the Alps. (J)

What advice do you have for people new to WOTOWN?
It can be daunting when you first start, but stay consistent and show up. There is always a scaling option, so don’t let the workouts scare you! Most importantly, get to know the people around you, they very well could become some of your greatest friends! (K)

Get to know everyone because they are what will make you want to come back. (J)

Anything else you’d like to mention?

I’m not going to do heavy deadlifts… quit asking. (J)
